We're moving! Here's everything you need to know

We would like to take this opportunity to update you on the exciting developments at Capital City Motors.

Capital City Motors has enjoyed a long and rich history for nearly 100 years and we have been based in Taranaki Street throughout this time. Due to the continual rise of commercial property values in the Wellington CBD, it has been increasingly difficult to operate a large footprint in the city centre. Five years ago the property at 97 Taranaki Street was sold to a development group to undertake a residential project. This will happen at different stages throughout the year with the first stage beginning in January 2020 on what is currently our used car yard.

Between now and October 2020, we will continue to operate our new Ford, new Mazda and used vehicle sales departments at 97 Taranaki Street. Although we'll be operating on a reduced footprint, we will be working hard to deliver a fantastic customer experience whilst demolition and construction activities go on around us. Although there will be some minor disruption throughout the year, we ask for your patience and understanding during this time.

Over the last five years, we have been planning how best to represent our brands and meet the needs of our customers throughout the Wellington region. This has led us to develop a ‘hub and spoke’ concept.  At the centre of this is the operational hub that will be based at 434 High Street, Lower Hutt. This will contain all of the traditional dealership functions that you are familiar with including new and used vehicle sales, finance, administration, servicing and parts. Although this is currently occupied by Stevens Motors, this site is being expanded, redeveloped and rebranded as Capital City Ford and Capital City Mazda.

This is a very exciting development that will feature two incredible new showrooms. They will provide complete separation of our two brands and adhere to the latest global standards set by Ford New Zealand and Mazda New Zealand. We expect this to be fully completed by October 2020 and we’re confident these new facilities will deliver the best customer experience in New Zealand. Stay tuned as we will provide you with photo and video content of this development throughout the year.

The operational hub in turn supports multiple satellite/spoke operations conveniently located throughout the greater Wellington region. These operations differ in size and services offered depending on their geographic location. All of these spokes are already in place; they include two existing facilities - our sales and service branch at 160 Kapiti Road, Paraparaumu and a dedicated service centre at 10 Tutuira Place, Porirua. Furthermore, over the last 18 months we have opened two new state-of-the-art facilities in the Wellington CBD – Ford Link/Mazda Connect, which sit within the PwC Centre on the Wellington waterfront, and a major investment in a new dedicated service centre at 258 Taranaki Street.

If you have any questions or comments about these exciting developments, please do not hesitate in contacting me at any stage.

Best wishes,

Matthew Carman
